Description

For :iconkiokid817: ! This is just a piece to demonstrate my process on how I do a page.

Its not very informative! :D

EDIT: I realize I should put some info on here, that might help!

Here is some of my very limited knowledge!

I work in Photoshop CS6 with a Wacom tablet.

-I set up my canvas at 8.5 x 11 inches with 300 dpi. This makes for a big canvas so prepare for detail!

-Color your canvas something other than white. White is intimidating!

-To have the rulers up on each side just hit ctrl r

-Use guide lines to set up a margin around the page, I set mine at half an inch. To use guidelines just click and drag on the top and left sides of the canvas. This should bring up those blue lines and you can move it anywhere.

-I use the rectangle tool with a 2point black stroke and no fill to make the panels. Don't be afraid to make them overlap and go off the page!

-I'm not sure if this is the case for everyone, but for me; remove the blue guide lines before laying down your sketch. They seriously screw with your brush tool and make it glitch all over the canvas.

-I like to sketch in a dark gray. I find black sketching also intimidating haha I like to use a bigger brush for sketching. focus on capturing the energy of the character and their pose. And Don't stress too much about details. Don't get too messy though, you'll have a hard time simplifying it in the finished lines!

-After you're done sketching lower the opacity of the sketch layer and create a new layer for your finished line work. I like to use a thin brush stroke for the finished line at something around 5 point with black.

-I like to make my finished line work as simple as possible. That means try not to do a sketching line, where you use quick little strokes. Instead try to complete each line in a quick fluid movement with your arm and wrist to create maximum smoothness! This results in a lot of effed up lines, so keep your fingers on ctrl z to undo it and try again.

-For colors, I use the magnetic lasso tool and the paint bucket to get the basic colors in quick. I then clean up the edges using the brush tool.

That's about it! Please post any questions, if you have any. Hope it helps!
